Andrew opened his first butchers shop in Purton back in 1989. After 9 years, Andrew closed the doors and began working at the other butchers shop in the village. It was decided that having one butchers in Purton would be sufficient. They were then able to work together to provide and improved quality of service to their customers.
In 2004, Andrew bought out the shop after the retirement of the previous owner. Since then, the shop has continued to grow with the help of the rest of Andrews family. His wife, Suzanne, helps out in the shop to serve the customers. She also works behind the scenes keeping the business on track.
His eldest son, Grant, came to work for the business in 2012. He brought a fresh perspective and helped to modernise the business. Following this, the catering side of the business flourished and meat was supplied to a range of pubs, hotels and care homes around Swindon. In September 2019 Andrews youngest son, Callum, joined the family business. He deliveres around Swindon enabling the family to fulfil the demands of the catering service.
Alongside the Hiscocks, father and son Ben and Martin Smith also work for the business. Ben currently manages the shop. He has over 20 years of experience in the trade, beginning when he was 13 working as a Saturday boy in Andrew's first shop. Martin has been working with the family for nearly 15 years following a career change from Printing. He has a keen eye for detail!
The family continue to work tirelessly to serve Swindon with the highest quality meat, adapting to the wants and needs of their customers.
